Server glitch

February 26th, 2007 No comments

At approximately 11.10pm (GMT) on Sunday 25th Feb we had a problem with our server. To quote our ISP: “[The server] had to be restarted this evening, due to some quota issues, which inexplicably corrupted some database users.” All issues have now been resolved and we apologise to our users for any inconvenience caused.

I’ve spent today manually going through the database adding in the missing and altered records and everything should be back to normal now.

Our ISP has recovered the old database but there’s no sign of it being integrated into the new one yet.

Upgrade mistake – progress report

February 13th, 2007 No comments

I’ve fixed the coding/configuration problems on the new server so all the pages are now working. Our ISP reckons they should be able to recover the missing data soon.

Upgrade mistake

February 13th, 2007 No comments

So it seems that our ISP has decided to upgrade our server – actually we’ve been transferred to a new, faster, more powerful, more resilient server – but the configuration of the new server is different to the old one so some of my code is broken 🙁 I think I can fix this problem pretty quickly but, more worryingly, the new server was brought online with a slightly out of date copy of our database. Oh no, I see a long night ahead!

Something’s wrong with the mylifelists.com system. Searches have stopped working and some information has disappeared! I’ll poke around and see what I can find…
