Talking of spreading the love…

November 25th, 2011

I’ve been tagged by my lovely friend Andie on her Little Bits of Waffle blog. I’ve never been tagged before so I might not be doing it right, but here goes.

It’s Mammy Woo’s Music Therapy meme. All I have to do is pick 3 pieces of music that move me…

Number one is easy… always at the top of my list. I melt every time as soon as I hear the guitar chords at the beginning. I couldn’t find a decent video of the song with good sound quality so this one will have to do. At least the music is right. It’s Alison by Elvis Costello:

Number 2 has a similar effect Witchita Lineman by Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb. Again I’ve had to go for the non video video because I’m a purist, I love this so much and all of the live versions on YouTube hit a bum note with me. Not Glenn Campbells fault it’s just that I know this version so well that every difference grates on me.

Bonkers, camp and slightly ridiculous I know but this gives me goosepimples every time and as a child used to really fire my imagination it’s Keith West’s Excerpt from a Teenage Opera:

Now I think I am supposed to tag other people… I had better ask them if it’s OK first… I’ll get back to you.

Yay! I love the slightly bonkers stuff it always hits a note with me so I don’t find ‘Excerpt from a Teenage Opera’ camp or ridiculous at all :) Can’t beat a bit of Elvis Costello and ‘Witchita Lineman’ has just had me sobbing…I must be hormonal ;-)

Thanks for playing. I really enjoy seeing everyone’s choices x

    Hello there in Mayo,
I found your blog this morning while searching for co mayo blogs. I have recently moved from the west of Ireland to the USA and was just feeling a little homesick this morning. I love the name, there certainly are a lot of bogs in Mayo alright, but all beautiful. I visited Currane a lot as a child. One of my aunts was from there and always took me with them when they went to visit on a Sunday. Your blog has brought back so many lovely memories this morning. I love your lifelists, I think I need to make a cup of tea and settle into your archives.
