Yes I really do and just to prove it, today marks the launch of ilovemayo.com. To start with, this is where I’m selling my own original paintings and prints. I plan to sell locally produced art by other artists, photographers and craftspeople. I’ve always been surprised at the lack of locally produced gifts and souvenirs for sale in the area. Many gift shops sell products that have very little in common with the Ireland of today, let alone products actually produced here.
I will personally source products that I consider to be appropriate to sell and add them to the ilovemayo range over time. If you are a Mayo artist, photographer or craftsperson, and would be interested in ilovemayo selling your products for you, please contact me.
In time, I hope to be able to provide the very best of Mayo products in one place. As always, it’s Al who’s done all the hard work on this project so well done Al, he’s made a great job of the site! Hope you like it.

I do still have things to say about RTÉ.ie and alcohol advertising. I just don’t know where to start! I was happy to get a response but I’m left feeling quite deflated and annoyed by it. Will have a go soon.
Meanwhile, we’re trying to get the house as watertight as possible for the winter. The days are really starting to shorten now. The chickens are doing well. Of this year’s chicks, it’s clear now that Bruno is definitely a boy and that Janet probably is also. Hopefully Latoya and Tito are girls. It’s early days for Tito still.
We have huge changes to the site coming soon. List item numbering will be ‘rolled out’ (as Al would say) across the site soon. Numbering will mean that items can be inserted into a particular place in a list. You’ll also be able to make list items (or just selected text), bold or italic or ‘tada’…. a link!
The picture above was taken on one of our last summery days (Note: Trudi’s head).

Just uploaded the latest updates to mylifelists.com. There are an awful lot of minor detail changes to improve the general operation of the site, but the headline features are the new Trivialists and a change to the way Piclists are created and updated.
Trivialists are, erm, well, lists of trivia. They are fixed lists, designed to provide interesting and/or useful information. We hope that in time they will build up to be a truly massive collection of facts presented in an easily digestible form. Do let us know what you’d like to see included as a Trivialist.
When you upload pictures to a Piclist you now get some visual feedback on the progress of the upload. You can even see exactly how much is being uploaded, how quickly and how much longer it should take. More to the point, at least you now know something is happening and any errors should be reported more clearly.
As always, let us know if you have any comments or suggestions.

Al’s been working on making Piclists better. It should be much easier to upload pictures now. See what you think. As always, feedback is appreciated.

We had a wonderful time in France with a group of our old friends from the Evening Standard. Piclist here. We laughed almost constantly. It was so good to see our friends again, the weather was great and we had fantastic surroundings and food. All of the important things in life!

Al has been programming away as fast as his little fingers can type. Some of the additions that I’ve been whining about for some time are ready to go. We’ve uploaded a new version of our site that includes some new features.
Sometimes when looking at a list I want to comment on a list item but I can’t say Me2! because I haven’t done the thing myself – maybe I just like what the Lifelister to say or I admire their achievement. I’ve often wanted to to congratulate someone when they achieve something on a Todolist or a Bucketlist. Now we can honour list items by awarding Medals. You can give a Medal in the same way you give a Me2!
Some users create really inspirational lists. Now we can award a whole list a Gold Star if we like it. When looking at a list, you will notice the option to award a Gold Star over to the right of a list title, near where you can choose to ‘Favourite’ a list.
You’ll notice there’s lots of new functionality on your home page too. You can now delete Me2!s, Medals, or Gold Stars that you have given. And you now have a record of the awards you have given.
Enjoy the new features and please do let us know if you notice any problems.

Poor Midge is no longer with us. She looked like she’d had a stroke and seemed to go blind in one eye. She went downhill last week when Al was in hospital with a gallstones. He came out on Saturday- just in time to watch the Six Nations. Midge never recovered.

RIP Midge

Al's Valentine's Bread
My lovely Al makes wonderful bread at the weekend. Today he made these heart-shaped Valentine’s buns especially for me. They were delicious covered in butter. He knows the way to my heart!

Al

This is not a great picture because it was taken with our mobile phone. Well done Al! I didn’t have the nerve to ask.
Silly but I’m a little obsessed with this machine. It’s the ‘robot drug dispenser’ from the pharmacy at Achill Sound. It’s a first in Ireland apparently. I love the bright white surroundings, the clean glass and the rows of little bright boxes. It’s just like an art installation.
Years ago, Damien Hirst was part owner in a London restaurant called The Pharmacy and there were artworks there that in a way were very similar. To me, visiting the chemist at the sound has started to feel a little like a visit to a modern art gallery. It’s a great addition to the area in my opinion, a thing of beauty. Although there is a lot of natural beauty around here, it’s nice to see some man-made beauty for a change. There’s not a lot of that. In fact I can’t think of anything. In this area, man’s intervention generally ruins the place.
