Magic Monday!

October 12th, 2009 No comments

We’ve uploaded a new version of the site today. List items (except main Lifelist) can now be numbered. Text can be made bold, italicised and turned into a link.
We’ve done lots of testing of the new features but if you have any difficulty or any questions or if there is anything else you would like to see, then please let us know.

Just a quickie

October 2nd, 2009 2 comments

View from the front of our house

I do still have things to say about RTÉ.ie and alcohol advertising. I just don’t know where to start! I was happy to get a response but I’m left feeling quite deflated and annoyed by it. Will have a go soon.

Meanwhile, we’re trying to get the house as watertight as possible for the winter. The days are really starting to shorten now. The chickens are doing well. Of this year’s chicks, it’s clear now that Bruno is definitely a boy and that Janet probably is also. Hopefully Latoya and Tito are girls. It’s early days for Tito still.

We have huge changes to the site coming soon. List item numbering will be ‘rolled out’ (as Al would say) across the site soon. Numbering will mean that items can be inserted into a particular place in a list. You’ll also be able to make list items (or just selected text), bold or italic or ‘tada’…. a link!

The picture above was taken on one of our last summery days (Note: Trudi’s head).

We’re having a party

February 29th, 2008 No comments

We’re having a party in May. We’re celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. I’m very excited about it- lots of wonderful people are coming including some Lifelisters. Although I’ve never met some of these people before, I’m so pleased that I can make them welcome by playing their favourite music! This will be the first of many Lifelisting events I hope.

Find out who’s giving you Me2s

January 29th, 2008 No comments

Al’s been very busy adding some new functions that have been on our wishlist for a while. Now, when you hold your mouse over a Me2 you’ll find out who gave it to you. Clicking on that Me2 will still take you to the users profile.

Getting the word out

October 17th, 2007 No comments

This web site is so important to Al and I. Of course, there are more important things in life (our health, being together etc.) but we are very commited to this site and our Lifelists concept. We’re going to do everything we can to make it a success but what exactly does that mean? Maybe it is a success already? We don’t have millions of users like some other sites but the Lifelisters that have got involved are worth their weight in gold or (even rare white truffles). Many thanks to them; they have made this site what it is, are creating some great lists and really seem to ‘get’ our concept. Since our little site went ‘live’ at the end of last year there has not been one complaint about any user. Everyone has been kind, supportive, encouraging and respectful of each other. We are very slowly (but surely that’s the best way?) building a community of people who love life and want to celebrate it. People who are not just happy to celebrate our similarities but also our differences. What more could we want? As far as we’re concerned that makes the site a huge success. I can see though that there may be a case to be made for getting more people involved so that there is more rapidly changing content on the site. We haven’t really tried that hard to do this so far but now feels like the right time to try and spread the word. The site is working properly from a technical point of view, the friends section will be online soon and there are lots of new additions almost ready to go. Al’s working non stop on all the techie stuff so the marketing will be down to me. If anyone can help with this or make some suggestions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch or get involved.

If I won the lottery

October 15th, 2007 No comments

Pixie has come up with another great list entitled ‘If I won the lottery’. As soon as we can, we’ll add it to the quicklist menu. I have a list in my head of what I would do if I had lots and lots of money but I’ve never written it down before. I have a feeling that the things I will put on my list won’t be the same as the extravagant ideas in my head. That’s another one that would take a lot of thinking about but what fun. Something to keep me busy on long winter evenings. Like Pixie though, it would help if I actually bought a ticket on a regular basis!

My Ideal Round The World Trip

October 8th, 2007 No comments

eclectic has come up with a great list idea- ‘Ideal Round The World Trip’. The idea is this: Imagine you can go around the world for a year and stay at 13 stops each for 4 weeks thereby using them as a hub for accessing intermediate destinations. I really admire eclectic’s choices and spent many a happy hour wondering what my own choices would be. I’m assuming money would be no object. I think I need to get the atlas out before I commit myself to this one.

6 for a new world

January 18th, 2007 No comments

This is driving me crazy. I can’t make my mind up at all and it’s almost getting to the point where it’s keeping me awake at night. Like ‘flyssann’ my first thought for a cook type person was Nigella Lawson, not only for the food but because she is a great appreciator of beauty and would make things look good. But then maybe she is too beautiful herself?? Maybe she would get on my nerves wafting around in her satin dressing gown. What if i get jealous? Now I feel terrible for thinking such things because really I should be thinking of what’s best for the new world and not my own insecurities. Coming up with a list of just 6 people is possibly just too much responsibility for me.
