Shakespeare's plays
William Shakespeare (1564–1616). English poet and playwright who was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. He wrote approximately 38 plays and 154 sonnets, as well as a variety of other poems. As few records of Shakespeare's life survive, there has been considerable speculation about such matters as his physical appearance, and whether the works attributed to him were written by others.
